Azerbaijan's Deputy PM: The Aghband-Kalaleh Bridge and Astara Rail Freight Terminal Are Nearly Complete

Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister, said on the sidelines of a meeting of the heads of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission on Tuesday, 7 Mehr 1405 (September 29, 2026), that joint infrastructure projects between the two countries, including a bridge over the Aras River, the Aghband-Kalaleh project, and the Astara rail freight terminal, are nearly complete. According to Mehr News Agency, he said he had discussed opening these projects as soon as possible with his Iranian counterpart.
Mustafayev added that trade volume between Iran and Azerbaijan has risen, and cargo movement under the International North-South Transport Corridor has also trended upward. At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest status of joint projects in trade, logistics, transport and energy.
