Blast Sound in Abadan Came From a Refinery Technical Fault; Gasoline Output Not Interrupted

Valiollah Hayati, security and law-enforcement deputy of the Khuzestan governorate, said on the morning of Thursday, September 24, 2026 that a sound heard in parts of Abadan was caused by a technical fault in one of the industrial units of the Abadan refinery.
He said technical crews reached the site immediately and are fixing the problem, that the fault will not disrupt gasoline production, and that the production lines are running without interruption. Hayati described the situation at the refinery as under control. The Abadan refinery is one of Iran's largest fuel producers.
