Tarztalab added that close to 1,700 megawatts of the 7,000-megawatt solar power program have come online so far, with the full program expected to be completed by next summer. Permits have also been issued for 100 megawatts of wind power and 500 megawatts of battery storage. He said a guaranteed-purchase directive for domestically made solar panels will be announced next week.
The remarks came at the opening of a factory producing industrial solar inverters. Mashallah Tabe-Jamaat, another deputy energy minister, said at the same event that renewable capacity additions have accelerated from about 100 megawatts a year to about 100 megawatts a week, and that Iran's power generation capacity has grown about 8 percent over the past year.
