US Central Command (Centcom) said in a statement posted on its official page that its forces had completed a heavy wave of strikes against Iran at 10 p.m. US Eastern time on 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405). The report was published in the early hours of Thursday, 30 July 2026 (8 Mordad 1405).
According to the statement, dozens of targets linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were hit during the operation, including military command centres, missile and drone facilities, surveillance posts, coastal defences and naval capabilities. Centcom said the stated aim of the strikes was to further reduce the ability of Iran and its allied forces to threaten US troops, commercial shipping and neighbouring countries along the Persian Gulf.
Centcom also said IRGC forces had fired several ballistic missiles in a surprise attack on US forces stationed in the region on 28 July, all of which were intercepted. The command added that more than 50,000 US military personnel are currently deployed in the region and on full alert. Sahmino does not independently confirm the claims made in this statement and reports them as attributed to its text.
