Central Bank governor announces subscription for Iran's first foreign currency investment fund to begin next week

Abdolnasser Hemmati, governor of the Central Bank of Iran, said in remarks carried by ISNA and reported by Donya-e-Eqtesad on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 (18 Shahrivar 1405), that the launch process for the country's first foreign currency investment fund has been finalized. He said preparations for the fund, aimed at attracting foreign currency resources and channeling them into financing economic activity and export generating projects, are complete, and subscription will begin next week. Hemmati explained that holders of foreign currency can invest their funds in the vehicle without converting them to rials, receiving investment units in return; unit issuance and redemption will also be denominated in foreign currency, and investors will receive the value of their units in foreign currency upon exit. He added that the central bank is simultaneously easing mechanisms for transporting, delivering and storing foreign banknotes to facilitate inflows into these funds.
