Dollar reaches 232,700 tomans as Emami coin and global gold hit fresh records

9 September 2026 · 27 days ago

Tehran's currency and gold markets set fresh records on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 (18 Shahrivar 1405), as of 19:30 Tehran time. According to Sahmino's own live data, the free market dollar rose about 2.7 percent from the previous day to 232,700 tomans, while the full Emami gold coin gained nearly 3 percent to reach 241,995,000 tomans. The global gold ounce also rose about 1 percent to 4,400.29 dollars. According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, the simultaneous jump in the dollar, euro and dirham, alongside global gold's move into the 4,400 dollar range, has put both gold and the coin on track for fresh historic highs. The rise extends the upward move seen earlier the same day, when the dollar had been trading around 229,700 tomans, and comes as military tensions between the United States and Iran escalate in the Strait of Hormuz and along Jordan's border.
