Central Bank of Iran: monthly inflation eased to 3.6% in Tir, half the 7.4% recorded in Khordad

The director-general of economic policy at the Central Bank of Iran said on Wednesday, 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405) that monthly inflation registered 3.6% in Tir. According to Mehdizadeh, that compares with 7.4% in Khordad and 8.5% in Ordibehesht, indicating that the pace of price growth has halved from the previous month.
He stressed that the figure does not mean the general price level has fallen, only that the speed of price growth has slowed: prices are still rising, but more slowly.
The comment came on the same day as the Tir inflation report for low-income deciles, which showed their year-on-year inflation rate staying in triple digits for a second consecutive month. The gap between decelerating monthly inflation and persistently high annual inflation is the familiar picture in economies emerging from a period of price shocks.
