China's C919 Passenger Jet Completes Its First International Flight, From Beijing to Ulaanbaatar
13 August 2026 | 2 months ago
China's C919 single aisle passenger jet, built by state owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), completed its first international flight on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 (21 Mordad 1405), operated as Air China flight CA723. The flight left Beijing at 15:17 local time and landed in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, at 16:58 local time. According to Khabar Online, citing Digiato, the route will now operate daily with one round trip. The C919, designed as a direct rival to the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320, has not yet received certification from US (FAA) or European (EASA) aviation regulators, which limits its access to Western markets. Development of the aircraft began in 2007, and the first unit rolled off the production line in Shanghai in 2015.
