Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has told Iran's customs administration that the requirement for exporters of copper cathode, hot-briquetted direct reduced iron and hot-rolled steel sheet to present an Iran Mercantile Exchange export certificate will now take effect on 30 Dey 1405 (January 20, 2027) instead of 15 Mehr 1405 (October 7, 2026). According to Mehr News Agency, which reported the change on Saturday, September 26, 2026, the decision followed letter No. 8723185 dated 28 Shahrivar 1405 (September 19, 2026) from the ministry's deputy for mines and mining industries.

Under the notice, copper cathode (tariff code 74031100), hot-briquetted sponge iron (tariff code 72031010) and hot-rolled steel sheet remain subject to the rule; only its start date moves back by about three and a half months. The extension gives copper and steel exporters more time to route their sales through the exchange mechanism.
