Albusaidi said Muscat will keep working to protect navigation in the Strait of Hormuz under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and that all parties must cooperate to protect the interests of countries that depend on transit through the strait. He urged the parties involved to settle their differences through restraint, dialogue and political solutions. Oman had earlier reached an understanding with Iran on safe shipping lanes through Hormuz.
