10 September 2026 · 26 days ago
According to Shafaq News, the US dollar eased slightly against the Iraqi dinar in early Thursday trading in Baghdad and Erbil on September 10, 2026 (19 Shahrivar 1405), settling around 156,000 dinars per 100 dollars, down from Wednesday's rate of 156,200 dinars. Baghdad's Al Kifah and Al Harithiya central exchanges quoted the dollar at 156,000 dinars. At Baghdad exchange shops, the dollar sold for 156,500 dinars and was bought for 155,500 dinars. In Erbil, the selling price stood at 155,900 dinars and the buying price at 155,800 dinars per 100 dollars.
That rate remains well above the Central Bank of Iraq's official peg of 131,000 dinars per 100 dollars. According to IraqiNews, the parallel market rate has been on an upward path in recent weeks and crossed the 156,000 dinar threshold for the first time on Wednesday across all three trading hubs of Baghdad, Basra and Erbil. The stability or further weakening of the Iraqi dinar matters for Iran's economy, since Iraq is one of Iran's main channels for trade and informal currency transfers.
