The US dollar held steady against the Iraqi dinar for a second consecutive day on Monday, 9 Shahrivar 1405 (August 31, 2026), trading around 154,000 dinars per 100 dollars in Baghdad and Erbil. According to a Shafaq News market survey, the dollar traded at 154,000 dinars per 100 dollars at Baghdad's Al Kifah and Al Harithiya central exchanges, unchanged from Sunday. At Baghdad exchange shops, the selling rate stood at 154,500 dinars and the buying rate at 153,500 dinars per 100 dollars. In Erbil, the dollar sold at 153,950 dinars and was bought at 153,850 dinars per 100 dollars.
The stability of Iraq's parallel exchange rate matters for Iran's economy, since Iraq is one of Iran's most important channels for trade, exports and informal currency transfers, and Baghdad's dollar rate indirectly affects the cost of imports and money transfers for Iranian traders active in that corridor.
