Economic Council Approves Foreign Goods and Services Purchases for a Heavy and Super-Heavy Tyre Production Project
12 October 2026 | 9 days ago
The Economic Council has approved a request from the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade to issue permits for buying and importing foreign goods and services for the "production of heavy and super-heavy tyres" project. Mehr reported this on Monday, 20 Mehr 1405 (12 October 2026), citing the Plan and Budget Organization. The permits were issued under clauses (a) and (b) of Article 5 of the law on maximum use of the country's production and service capacity and support for Iranian goods.
Under the resolution, at least 29 percent of the goods and services the project needs must be sourced domestically, and purchases from abroad are allowed up to 71 percent at most. Implementation is conditional on environmental requirements, passive defence considerations and obtaining the relevant licences, and the ministry must send a performance report to the Plan and Budget Organization every six months. Mehr's report does not name the investor, the project site or a start-up date.
