Government spokesperson Mohajerani said on Tuesday 13 October 2026 (21 Mehr 1405) that imports of all types of vehicles, including vans and other special vehicles for hoteliers or Iranians living abroad, have been temporarily suspended. The remarks widen the halt in plate numbering for these cars, reported the day before, into a suspension of the imports themselves.

Khabaronline wrote on 20 Mehr, citing a customs notice, that sending declaration data for plate numbering was banned because the TSC system has no base price or value identifier, and that no plates will be issued until the vehicles' values are finalised by the Note 6 working group of the Industry, Mining and Trade Ministry. The same outlet reported that the working group must complete the valuation within one month, after which full payment of import duties, taxes and levies is required.
The Industry Ministry treats foreign currency from personal sources as the basis of the scheme, while the Central Bank sees it as a way of collecting currency from the market. The reports give no detail on how long the suspension lasts or the conditions for resuming imports, beyond the working group's one-month deadline.
