Emami coin falls to 180 million tomans on Sunday while the global ounce holds flat

26 July 2026 · 3 months ago

Iran's domestic gold and coin market went through a second consecutive declining session on Sunday, 26 July 2026. In the 11:35 Tehran time update, the full Emami coin was down 2.44 percent at 180 million tomans and the Bahar Azadi coin down 2.22 percent at 176 million tomans. Sahmino's own price board recorded the Emami coin at 180.005 million tomans, down 2.49 percent, as of 11:29.

At the same hour, a gram of 18-carat gold traded down 1.74 percent at 17.822 million tomans and a mesghal of melted gold at 77.2 million tomans. The half-coin was recorded at 93 million tomans, down 1.06 percent, and the quarter-coin at 52 million tomans, down 1.89 percent.

The decisive feature of this session is that the declines had nothing to do with the world market: at the same hour spot gold stood at $4,052.91 an ounce, effectively unchanged with a 0.01 percent gain, and silver at $58.17, unchanged. The entire domestic move therefore came from the currency side, with the free-market dollar retreating to 187,000 tomans the same day. Gold's price in Iran is the product of the global ounce and the free-market dollar rate, so when the ounce holds still, the change in domestic prices is purely a reflection of the currency market.
