Emami Coin Premium Shrinks 16.6 Percent in a Day as Gold and Coin Prices Ease in Tehran

Iran's gold and coin market was broadly lower on the morning of Sunday, 25 Mordad 1405 (August 16, 2026), according to the Tehran Gold and Jewelry Union. Global spot gold stood at $4,376 an ounce, while in the domestic market the Tehran gold rate (mesghal) fell to 82,470,000 tomans, 18-karat gold traded at 19,038,000 tomans per gram and 24-karat gold at 25,381,000 tomans per gram. In the coin market, the new-design Emami coin traded at 189,500,000 tomans and the old-design coin at 188,000,000 tomans.
Separately, Sahmino's own market data show the Emami coin's bubble (the gap between its market price and intrinsic value) fell to about 3,625,000 tomans on the evening of Saturday, 24 Mordad (August 15), down 16.6 percent, or roughly 602,000 tomans, from the previous day, a sizable narrowing of the coin's premium in the free market.
