Fake Google Ad Tricks Hyperliquid User Out of $550,000

According to Arzdigital, in a report published Friday, August 14, 2026 (23 Mordad 1405), a user of the decentralized exchange Hyperliquid lost about 550,000 dollars in stablecoin holdings to a phishing attack on August 13, 2026 (22 Mordad 1405). Citing an investigation by security firm FlashRescue, Arzdigital reported that the user interacted with a fake website promoted through Google Ads, and the attackers moved the funds to three separate addresses holding 440,015, 82,503 and 27,501 USDC respectively, figures also confirmed by security firm GoPlus Security.\n\nA Google spokesperson said in response that the advertising account linked to the campaign had been suspended. According to an earlier report from the Security Alliance (SEAL), Hyperliquid has been the target of nearly 5 percent of all phishing sites identified in malicious ad campaigns. Security experts advised crypto users to never access decentralized applications through Google search results and to carefully verify a website's address before connecting a wallet.
