27 July 2026 | 3 months ago
It was announced on Monday 27 July 2026 that, by order of Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Hossein Forouzan has been appointed secretary of the Supreme Council of Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones.
The Supreme Council is the policymaking body for Iran's free trade-industrial zones and special economic zones, and its secretariat is responsible for coordinating between the free zone organisations and following up on the council's decisions.
Free zones are one of the channels for Iran's foreign trade, imports and investment, and a change of leadership at the secretariat can affect how executive decisions for these zones are taken.
