Per fill limit on stations' open fuel cards to double in three Iranian border provinces
27 July 2026 | 3 months ago
It was announced on Monday 27 July 2026 that an order has been issued to double the per fill limit on the open fuel cards held by filling stations in three Iranian border provinces, to be applied shortly.
Stations' open cards are the instrument through which drivers without a personal fuel card refuel at the unsubsidised rate. Raising the per fill ceiling reduces the number of repeat stops at stations.
The decision coincides with the peak of Arbaeen pilgrim traffic on border routes in western Iran. The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company had earlier announced special fuel supply arrangements on the route to the Tamarchin border crossing. Iran's petrol consumption reached a record 135 million litres a day in the Iranian month ending 22 July 2026.
