Mohammad Azimmalek, deputy governor of Kurdistan province for management development and resources, announced that following the rise in temperatures, and in order to save energy and support the stability of the power grid, working hours for all executive bodies in the province will run from 7am to 11am on Tuesday, 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405). The announcement was published by Eghtesad Online.
He said the decision was taken to manage energy consumption, reduce load on the grid and prevent excessive use during the hottest hours of the day. He asked managers of executive bodies to switch off cooling systems and other non-essential electrical equipment before the end of the working day. The decision does not apply to emergency, operational and service-delivery bodies, which will continue to operate as normal.
According to the report, as of publication only Kurdistan province had officially announced a change to office hours, and no new circular had been issued on reducing or changing working hours in other provinces. Energy shortfalls and electricity rationing for industry have been among the variables weighing on production this summer, and on the performance of listed companies dependent on power and gas.
