Iran Grants Energy Task Force Authority to Review Fuel and Gas Prices and Quotas

According to Donya-e-Eqtesad citing Mizan News Agency, Iran's cabinet granted a special energy task force authority to review prices and quotas for petroleum products and natural gas in a resolution reported on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 (6 Aban 1405). The Planning and Budget Organization and Oil Ministry jointly proposed the measure, which directs the task force to consider economic, social and environmental factors in its decisions.
The resolution delegates the power to review prices and allocations; it does not announce a new gasoline or diesel price. The report sets no new rate, implementation date or fuel quota. For the fuel market, that distinction separates an administrative change from a price change already in force.
