Iran Sets Renewable Electricity Charge for Industries Missing Their Required Green-Power Share
28 October 2026 | 23 hours ago
Iran's Energy Ministry set the renewable electricity charge in the bills of industries covered by Article 16 of the Knowledge-Based Production Law for Azar 1405 at 129,806 rials per kilowatt-hour, Mehr News Agency reported on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 (6 Aban 1405). It applies to industries using more than one megawatt of power that have not sourced the required four percent of their consumption from renewables.
The ministry says the rate is based on the average guaranteed-purchase bills for renewable power plants in Mordad and Shahrivar 1405. The announced Azar rate is for affected industrial users, not a uniform increase in the electricity tariff for all consumers.
