Iran plans to import 450 MW of electricity from Türkiye to supply petrochemical plants
27 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Iran's deputy energy minister said on Monday 27 July 2026 that the country is planning to import 450 MW of electricity from Türkiye to supply petrochemical companies.
He said Iran currently imports about 500 MW a year from Turkmenistan and Armenia, a step that both supports the stability of electricity supply and reduces domestic fuel consumption.
The announcement comes as power rationing for industry has been one of the main constraints on Iranian manufacturers this summer, with petrochemical plants ranking among the country's largest consumers of electricity and gas.
