Iran's Audit Organisation unveiled its Shahab system, described as an electronic and online auditing network, on Tuesday, 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405), calling it the formal start of the shift from traditional to electronic auditing. According to Mehr News Agency, the launch was attended by the organisation's chief executive, board members and managers.
Mousa Bozorgasl, the chief executive, said the system's success depends on auditors and asked them to report faults to the information technology unit. Noting that some technology structures in the country lag behind, he said the organisation had entered this path later than it should have, but that with staff support it would say goodbye to traditional auditing for good.
Bozorgasl described the use of artificial intelligence and data analysis tools as unavoidable for the auditing profession, and stressed that auditing is not merely a review of numbers but a means of protecting shareholder rights and countering financial corruption. The Audit Organisation audits state owned companies and a portion of Iran's listed companies, so the quality of its reports matters directly to investors on the Tehran Stock Exchange.
