Seyed Hamid Pourmohammadi, head of the Plan and Budget Organization, said in a television interview reported by Mehr on Monday, October 19, 2026 that the government spent about 450 thousand billion tomans on guaranteed wheat purchases this year and that all wheat farmers' dues were settled about 10 days earlier. He said the purchased wheat costs the state about 70 thousand tomans per kilogram once related costs are included, yet is supplied to bakeries at a far lower price. He stressed targeted fuel and farm inputs for genuine farmers.
