Iran's Tavanir: low usage electricity customers cutting consumption 10 percent get a 30 percent discount

Abdolamir Yaghouti, director general of the energy management and customer planning office at Iran's power utility holding company Tavanir, said on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405) that the electricity saving incentive scheme launched in late May (Khordad) will run until the end of the hot season in late September (end of Shahrivar).
Under the scheme, customers whose usage falls below the defined benchmark, placing them among the 75 percent of efficient users, and who record at least a 10 percent cut in consumption versus the same period last year, will receive a 30 percent discount on their electricity charges once bills are issued.
Yaghouti added that residents installing small scale rooftop solar units will qualify for discounts and financing, and that buildings fitted with hybrid solar systems capable of storage, self consumption and feeding surplus power back into the grid can receive up to 30 percent in additional bill discounts. He said the measures have been circulated and will be applied after the hot season ends.
