Kerman Suspends Free Market Rate Gasoline Plan; Fuel Distribution Reverts to Previous System
13 August 2026 | 2 months ago
Ahmad Salarifar, director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company's Kerman regional office, said on Thursday, August 13, 2026 (22 Mordad 1405), that the plan to sell gasoline at a free market refinery rate (87,000 tomans) in Kerman province has been suspended. According to Khabar Online, he attributed the decision to follow up talks between Kerman's governor and national officials and the need for further review of the province's fuel consumption management and anti smuggling plan, adding that fuel distribution at the province's stations will continue under the previous system until further notice. The plan had only begun a day earlier, from midnight on Wednesday, 21 Mordad (August 12), allocating a 40 liter provincial quota on top of each citizen's 110 liter national quota at 204 fuel stations across the province. The plan's rapid suspension shows that provincial fuel rationing policy remains in flux.
