According to Khabar Online, citing IRNA and the Wall Street Journal, in a report published Thursday night, 22 Mordad 1405 (August 13, 2026), the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which deployed on November 21, 2025 (30 Aban 1404) and had its route redirected to the Persian Gulf before the US and Israeli strikes on Iran in February 2026, is set to be relieved by the carrier USS George Washington.
US Senator Richard Blumenthal wrote to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Wednesday, 21 Mordad (August 12), seeking an explanation from the Navy about conditions aboard the Lincoln, which he said has been deployed for more than 250 days and has not returned to port for over 200 days, a record for the longest continuous time at sea. According to IRNA, reports have cited shortages of essential supplies, plumbing problems and deteriorating crew mental health. US officials have said the rotation plan was set before the concerns were raised.
