Strategy halts weekly Bitcoin buying and raises its share buyback ceiling to 2 billion dollars

Michael Saylor, chairman of Strategy, the world's largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, said on his official X account that the company has halted its weekly Bitcoin buying and is directing its funds toward share buybacks instead. He said Strategy has repurchased another 176 million dollars of its STRC preferred shares and raised the ceiling on its digital credit securities buyback program from 1.0 billion to 2.0 billion dollars. In his post, published Tuesday, September 8, 2026 (17 Shahrivar 1405), Saylor said the company held 845,050 Bitcoin units and 6.5 billion dollars in cash as of September 7. With an average purchase cost of about 75,412 dollars per Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency trading around 78,200 dollars at the time of this report, Strategy holds unrealized gains of more than 2 billion dollars. STRC shares, which target a par value of 100 dollars, fell to 75 dollars over the summer but have recovered to around 98 dollars following the buyback program.
