Packaged Chicken Sells for 250,000 to 290,000 Tomans in Tehran's Produce Markets; Veal Loin at 1.79 Million Tomans

According to a Boursenews survey of staple prices in Tehran's municipal fruit and produce markets, published on Friday, 3 Mehr 1405 (September 25, 2026), in the week ending 3 Mehr a kilogram of packaged chicken sold for 250,000 to 290,000 tomans, veal loin for 1,790,000 tomans and a side of lamb for 1,530,000 tomans. A 30 egg tray sold for between 260,000 and 530,000 tomans depending on type.

The figures come after Iran's National Poultry Farmers Union put the production cost of a kilogram of chicken at about 245,000 to 250,000 tomans on 28 Shahrivar (September 19) and asked farmers not to sell live birds below 200,000 tomans. The Livestock Supply Council also forecast on Friday that red meat supply will reach 55,000 to 60,000 tons a month as autumn begins.

Protein prices carry a heavy weight in household spending and are a key driver of food inflation.
