Sea Crossings Between Qeshm and Hormoz Resume, With Two Vessels on Even Days of the Week
12 October 2026 | 7 days ago
The director general of Hormozgan Province's ports and maritime organization announced that passenger sea crossings on the Qeshm to Hormoz route, which had been halted because of wartime conditions to protect passengers' lives, resumed on Monday, 12 October 2026 (20 Mehr 1405). According to Hamidreza Mohammadhosseini Takhti, after reviewing conditions and making the necessary arrangements, two vessels will now carry passengers from Qeshm to Hormoz on even-numbered days of the week, at 7:00 and 14:00.
He added that passenger and sailor safety is always the first priority, and that if passengers and tourists respond well, more trips and daily service are on the agenda. Service on the route will be assessed according to conditions and demand.
The resumption matters for Hormoz Island and its tourism and is a sign of a gradual return of local maritime transport services. The wider Strait of Hormuz remains under the influence of tensions, however, and this announcement concerns only passenger service between the two islands.
