Smart Electricity Meters Installed in Tehran Pass One Million

Kambiz Nazerian, chief executive of the Greater Tehran Electricity Distribution Company, said the number of smart electricity meters installed in the capital has passed one million. Mehr News Agency reported the figure on Saturday, 26 September 2026 (4 Mehr 1405), citing the company, during a visit by managers of the national grid company Tavanir to Tehran's smart power centres.

Nazerian said the meters allow customers' electricity use to be monitored online more fully than before, and that most of the company's services are now delivered remotely. Closer monitoring of consumption matters for managing grid load ahead of the winter demand peak.
