South Korea's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) announced on Tuesday, 21 Mehr 1405 (13 October 2026) that it is blocking domestic access to the websites of 27 unregistered foreign crypto exchanges, including KuCoin and MEXC. According to Arzdigital, regulators say the platforms served Korean citizens without a legal licence and have urged investors to withdraw their assets.

CoinDesk reported that the Korea Communications Standards Commission approved the restrictions after reviews on 6 and 7 October. Websites run from overseas will be blocked, while those operating domestically face service termination. The step extends earlier restrictions that targeted the exchanges' mobile apps on Google and Apple.

Under Korea's digital asset rules, operating without registration can bring up to 5 years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won.
