Supreme Labor Council to Form Wage Committee to Review Worker Pay

According to ISNA, in a report relayed by Donya-e-Eqtesad on Monday, August 24, 2026 (2 Shahrivar 1405), Fatemeh Mohammadian, head of Iran's High Council of Workers' Guild Associations, said a "wage committee" will be formed under the Supreme Labor Council. She said that at the Supreme Labor Council's session on Sunday, 1 Shahrivar 1405 (August 23, 2026), a proposal from workers' representatives to revisit wage adjustment was approved, despite opposition from employer representatives, after the deputy for labor relations backed forming the committee; it is due to be established by the end of Shahrivar (late September) and will examine various pay-increase scenarios.
Mohammadian, referring to a proposed cost-of-living basket figure of nearly 100 million tomans, said the issue must be discussed in the wage committee and factored into wage decisions, stressing that a purely numerical pay raise, without simultaneously containing inflation, would not meaningfully improve workers' living standards.
