Tehran Gold and Coin Prices Rise Friday as 18-Karat Gold Nears 20 Million Tomans
21 August 2026 · 2 months ago
According to Tehran's Gold and Jewelry Union, reported by Ecoiran at 6:36 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, gold and coin prices in Tehran rose across the board. 18-karat gold reached 19,929,400 tomans per gram and 24-karat gold hit 26,569,000 tomans. The new-design (Emami) coin priced at 198,700,000 tomans and the old-design coin at 195,900,000 tomans; the half coin traded at 100,300,000 tomans and the quarter coin at 54,500,000 tomans.
The driver was a jump in global spot gold, which traded above $4,500 an ounce the same day and was on track for a third straight weekly gain, a move linked to the US Treasury's expanded debt buyback program and a weaker dollar. These figures are slightly higher than last night's report, when 18-karat gold first crossed the 20-million-toman channel and the Emami coin passed 198 million tomans.
