Tehran Stock Exchange Index Tops 5.4 Million Points for First Time as $2.4B Flows In Over Two Days

7 August 2026 | 2 months ago

Tehran's Donya-e-Eqtesad newspaper and Ecoiran reported that the Tehran Stock Exchange's benchmark TEDPIX index rose 2.47% to 5,407,000 points in Wednesday, 14 Mordad 1405 (August 5, 2026) trading, crossing 5.4 million points for the first time and topping its previous record set on 16 Tir (July 7). The equal-weight index also climbed 2.45% to 1,534,000 points, its own all-time high.

According to the reports, real (non-institutional) investors poured 6,227 billion tomans into the market on Wednesday, the largest daily inflow since 25 Khordad (June 15), adding to more than 5,800 billion tomans that flowed in on Monday, 12 Mordad (August 3), for a two-day total exceeding 12,000 billion tomans (about $2.4 billion at the free-market rate). Ninety-seven percent of listed symbols closed higher on Wednesday.

The reports linked the rally to a retreat in the free-market dollar rate to around 188,000 tomans and calmer physical gold and coin markets, saying some capital rotated out of currency and gold into equities amid hopeful news on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
