Tehran Stock Exchange Sells 52 Percent of Government Bonds on Offer
1 September 2026 | 2 months ago
According to Boursenews, the latest government bond auction on the Tehran Stock Exchange on Monday, 9 Shahrivar 1405 (August 31, 2026), sold only 52 percent of the 65.9 trillion tomans in bonds on offer. The relatively low sell through rate signals softer market appetite for government debt amid currently high interest rates in the money market.
Selling bonds through the exchange is one of the government's main tools for financing its budget deficit without expanding the monetary base, and the sell through rate at each auction can directly affect bond yields and their competitiveness against other assets such as equities and gold.
