Tehran's Free Market Dollar Dips to 268,960 Tomans, Then Jumps Above 272,000

Tehran's free-market US dollar rate fell from the previous day's close on Monday morning, October 5, 2026 (13 Mehr 1405), to 268,960 tomans, according to Donya-e-Eqtesad, which recorded the figure at 11:09 local time. But later the same morning the rate turned higher again: price tracker Alanchand.com put the dollar at about 272,500 tomans by 11:30, above the previous day's roughly 270,000-toman peak, while Tgju.org recorded today's highest print at 272,020 tomans, with the past 24 hours ranging between 267,100 and 273,100 tomans.

Separately, Central Bank of Iran Governor Abdolnasser Hemmati said Monday that the central bank would decisively take any action necessary to manage the foreign-exchange market, citing its legal authority to do so.
