The free-market US dollar rate in Tehran rose above the previous day's close on Thursday, October 1, 2026 (9 Mehr 1405). According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, the rate reached 257,960 tomans as of 14:11 Tehran time. Live data from price tracker tgju.org recorded the dollar at around 258,300 tomans by 15:00 the same day, up nearly 1.4 percent on the day. The euro posted a similar gain in the free market.

The move extends a multi day upward trend for the free market dollar. Earlier the same day, the official transfer rate at Iran's Exchange Center had also risen from the previous day and approached 175,000 tomans.
