Telecommunication Company of Iran says cable theft caused about 150 billion tomans of damage last year

The communications deputy at the Telecommunication Company of Iran said on Sunday 26 July 2026 that thefts of telecoms cables had increased and had caused the company about 150 billion tomans of damage last year.
According to Tejarat News, he added that in some cases the theft of a single cable cuts service for about 6,000 subscribers.
The Telecommunication Company of Iran trades on the Tehran Stock Exchange under the symbol Akhaber, and network repair and replacement costs feed into its profit margin.
