US Federal Prosecutors Examine Whether Binance Violated Iran Sanctions

According to Arzdigital, citing Bloomberg, US federal prosecutors in Manhattan, with the Justice Department's criminal division, are examining whether cryptocurrency exchange Binance violated US sanctions by failing to block certain Iran linked transactions. Per the report, published Tuesday, September 22, 2026 (31 Shahrivar 1405), the investigation is at an early stage and details of the transactions under review have not been disclosed. Binance said in response that it has a zero tolerance policy for sanctions violations and cooperates fully with law enforcement. The exchange previously pleaded guilty in 2023 to violating anti money laundering and sanctions laws, paying a 4.3 billion dollar penalty, and its founder and former CEO, Changpeng Zhao, was pardoned by President Donald Trump in 2025.
