US Labor Day Gas Price Hits Record $4.15 a Gallon as Sanders Calls for Immediate End to War With Iran
5 September 2026 | 2 months ago
Senior US Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont wrote on X on Saturday, September 5, 2026 (14 Shahrivar 1405), that the national average US gasoline price had never before topped $4 a gallon on the Labor Day holiday, but reached $4.15 today. According to Mehr News Agency, he attributed the rise directly to what he called Trump's illegal and disastrous war against Iran, saying the war has not only caused thousands of casualties but is devastating the US economy.
Sanders closed his post by saying the United States must end the war right now. The remarks came on the same day CENTCOM said American forces struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to an alleged Iranian missile launch at two US warships.
