Bitcoin traded at around $62,900 on the morning of Friday, July 17, 2026 (US Eastern time), roughly $1,100 below the previous morning. The world's largest cryptocurrency has fluctuated in the $60,000 to $65,000 range for more than a month.
Friday's decline came alongside selling pressure in equity and precious-metals markets amid the intensifying US-Iran war. Several billion dollars' worth of bitcoin and ethereum options also expired on Friday. Tether, the cryptocurrency widely used in Iran's market, has traded inside the country above the free-market dollar rate this week.
