8 September 2026 · last month
Rahman Arasteh, director of the derivatives and new financial instruments market at the Iran Mercantile Exchange, described the details of the central bank's first standard parallel salaf coin bond offering in remarks to Radio Eqtesad's Rooye Khat Eqtesad program, carried by Kalanews on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 (17 Shahrivar 1405). He said the bonds will be offered on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 (18 Shahrivar), and will trade under an equity trading code. In the first phase, 100,000 full Bahar Azadi coins minted in 1386 (2007 to 2008) will be offered with a three month maturity. Individual investors and gold funds may participate; individuals face a purchase cap of 100 coins, while gold funds face no numerical limit. Arasteh said bondholders can take physical delivery of the coins at maturity or use a cash settlement mechanism, and the bonds can also be sold in the secondary market before maturity. The initial offering price will be set based on the last trading day's price of the gold coin deposit certificate on the Iran Mercantile Exchange.
