Despite Central Bank Chief's Claim, Oil Minister Says Iranian Crude Sales Continue

Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad rejected on Thursday, 5 Shahrivar 1405 (August 27, 2026), a claim by Central Bank Governor Mohammadreza Farzin that Iran's oil sales had effectively stopped. According to Ecoiran, citing the Jamaran news agency, Paknejad, speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony at Imam Khomeini's shrine, said he would not go into detail because disclosing information could be exploited by what he called "the enemy," but stressed that a significant volume of Iranian crude has been delivered to customers at points outside the country's territorial waters.
He said the process of selling oil in distant waters, meaning actual delivery to customers, continues, and that sales, though reduced in volume, did not stop even during the period between the two phases of the US naval blockade. Paknejad added the Oil Ministry is pursuing new measures to sustain exports under current conditions.
