According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, Tehran's currency and gold markets saw several assets jump together today, Saturday, October 3, 2026. The free market dollar rose from yesterday's close to 268,580 tomans, while the official exchange center's "havaleh" dollar rate rose from 174,704 to 175,228 tomans. The euro climbed to 302,510 tomans in the free market and the pound to 355,000 tomans. In gold and coins, 18-karat gold per gram rose to 26,377,100 tomans and one mesghal to 114,260,000 tomans, even as global spot gold fell 24 dollars from the previous day to 4,141 dollars an ounce, meaning Iran's sharp domestic gold rally is being driven by the rial's slide rather than global prices. The Emami gold coin traded higher at 270.8 million tomans. Tgju.org and Alanchand corroborated the move in the same window; Tgju logged the dollar at 2,677,150 rials (267,715 tomans), up 92,500 rials on the day. The simultaneous jump comes after the Central Bank said earlier today that the current exchange rate does not match the economy's fundamentals.
