According to a statement on the Egyptian presidency's website, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi hosted CIA Director John Ratcliffe in Cairo on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Presidential spokesperson Mohamed al-Shennawy said Sisi stressed Egypt's full support for efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement to end the Iran crisis, restore regional stability and security, and guarantee freedom of navigation. The two sides also discussed the need to fully implement the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan. The CIA director praised Egypt's role in the peaceful resolution of regional crises and affirmed continued security and intelligence cooperation between the two countries.
