Iran's free market US dollar rate fell 3,325 tomans, or 1.86 percent, from the previous day, to 178,295 tomans as of 2:34 pm Tehran time on Saturday, July 11, 2026 (20 Tir 1405). The NIMA linked rate showed a similar pattern, down about 1.84 percent to around 178,320 tomans. According to Tejaratnews, recent moves in Iran's currency and gold markets have largely tracked political risk headlines around US Iran talks over the Strait of Hormuz. Saturday's meeting between Iran's and Oman's foreign ministers in Muscat, and the continuation of diplomatic consultations between Tehran, Washington and Muscat, were cited among the factors behind lower safe haven demand for currency in the domestic market.
