Saghi Isfahani, head of Iran's Energy Optimization and Strategic Management Organization, said Thursday night, 22 Mordad 1405 (August 13, 2026), according to Fars News Agency as reported by Donya e Eqtesad, that three scenarios are under review for how gasoline is distributed in the country. Under the first, 121 million liters a day would be sold at the current price until the quota runs out, then pumps would shut. Under the second, the same 121 million liters would be rationed among vehicles at no price increase, with any excess demand sold at the free market rate, similar to the plan that had been set to run in Kerman. Under the third, 30 million liters would go to public transport and the remaining 91 million liters would be allocated to all citizens rather than to vehicles.
