Iran Chamber of Commerce deputy head calls for a national list of investment ready reconstruction projects

Hossein Pirmoazen, deputy head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, said in an interview with Mehr News Agency published on Sunday, 2 August 2026 (11 Mordad 1405), that the private sector must prepare now for its role in the post war reconstruction period, because the economic opportunities of that period will be limited and competitive, and unprepared firms will cede the field to foreign and regional rivals.
He listed the main prerequisites for firms as transparent and audited financial statements, prepared feasibility studies for infrastructure, housing, energy and industrial projects, consortiums between small and large firms, and workforce training to international standards. Pirmoazen called on the government to shift from a purely regulatory role to a facilitating one, saying investors only enter projects when assured of stable rules and respect for property rights.
His proposals include a joint secretariat of the government and the Chamber to identify investment ready projects, drafting and publishing a national list of priority reconstruction projects in international languages, launching a single investment window, cutting permit issuance times and stabilising foreign exchange regulations. He named energy, transport, housing, manufacturing, agriculture, technology, tourism, health and communications infrastructure as the most important sectors for the reconstruction period, and said foreign investment policy should bring technology and management knowledge alongside capital.
